Calculating emissions

We calculate our emissions along the scopes and categories of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol standards. In terms of managing our environmental performance, the most relevant emission categories are upstream transportation as well as business travel. For this reason, these aspects are considered separately and analyzed in greater detail. Emissions are clustered into three main categories:

  • Scope 1: Direct emissions from fuel combustion in own or controlled sources.

  • Scope 2: Indirect emissions from the production of the energy we purchase.

  • Scope 3:
    • Transportation: Indirect emissions generated from our subcontracted transportation partners and business travel.
    • Other indirect emissions: Indirect emissions generated for example during the production of goods and services, capital goods, employee commuting, or emissions related to the production of fuel and energy consumed.
